Conversation between a Weebo and Otaku

Weebo: Kyaaa! Did u liek, c that new episode of ____~? KAWAAIIIIDESUU~!

Otaku: Yeah. It was okay. But it wasn't a new episode...

Weebo: Really?! I'm so baka! Thanks! Aishiteru~! KYAAAA! DESU!!!

Otaku: .... Whatever. Please go away.

Weebo: But I love you desu!!! Aishiteru! Anime!

Otaku: GO. DIE.

It's hilarious, I've yet to see someone like that in real life though online we sometimes do that intentionally.

I'm definitely not a Weebo, nor an otaku (I think).

Otaku has a more ambiguous meaning. In the past, Otaku meant people obsessed over electronic products, then it is used for people who love anime and manga and now its other meaning is a degradatory term for people obsessed over anime and manga. Maniakku is a less offensive term than otaku.

I used to say that my bunch of animanga friends and I are otakus but it kind of changed when otakus became a term that is targetted to extreme animanga obsession, like the guy who married his Love Plus girlfriend and the guy who married his. Fate (from Nanoha) pillow. Even though I love Sebastian so much, to the point of obsession, I don't think I'll marry him publicly (nor privately!). It's just ... we're living in a different world. These characters are created and not real ^^

Sometimes people feel that Weebo are annoying and are causing their reputation as real Japanese fans to sink but I do feel that it's just a phrase people go through. Remember the time we are so obsessed with certain things that we can't stop talking about it? Yeah, I think of it that way.

I don't think being a Weebo or Otaku is anything to be ashamed about, I do like Japan, animanga or not, and everyone has something they like and are obsessed about. It's just whether how open the people around us are. That's all.
